I decided to attempt a juice cleanse to coincide with recovering from wisdom teeth extraction, cos I couldn’t really chew anything anyway. In saying that, I didn’t juice per se, only blended. It was okay but I couldn’t last three days. I guess perhaps maybe it’s good to give your body a rest and reset from the constant digesting etc, but I don’t think there is much else to be said for them. I also don’t think I will do another one, but who knows haha! Am also interested to listen to If Books Could Kill!
With absolutely no authority on the topic, I don't think a one day cleanse is really that bad either. We eat around a structure that is designed for the working day and it's probably way more than our bodies actually need. Three days however, was hectic. I would not be keen to ever repeat it.
I have read that blending is much better than juicing for the sake of fibre. You doing a cleanse after your teethies is probably better than the metric ton of custard and ice cream I ate after my own, ha.
The juice cleanse sounds a bit much. I'm sure that it's maybe good for some people, but it sounds like a lot of work and lot of struggle for rewards that can probably just be achieved by eating healthier and exercising. And then you'd also be setting up more helpful habits that you can carry on into your day-to-day life. But I'm the opposite of an expert on this, so I shouldn't be listened to.
The podcast seems like a delight as well, and a worthy target of dissection for that episode.
Agree! I also imagine a lot of people are so hungry after a long cleanse that they go on a feeding frenzy.
It's a very good episode. I also enjoyed their take on The 4-hour Work Week. Amazing how many blog posts were expanded into books last decade (full disclaimer - have probably also read most of them, haha).
As much as I bloody love a juice, that cleanse honestly sounds awful, so props to you for giving it a red hot crack!! Also so excited to see a new Charlotte Wood book, I can't wait to read it!

I don't even like juice that much, which was probably the first indication that things may go awry.
It's such a good read! I'm really hoping the stage adaptation of The Weekend gets a run in Melbourne.
Oh wow, I didn't even know there was a stage adaptation - that would be fantastic!
