Love this! It's been on my mind for ages but I haven't found a way to implement this in my own life yet. Very helpful to hear your experience!

Hi LC!

I loved this one. When we moved six years ago we purposely chose a location where the grocery store, pharmacy, community centre, library were all walking distance. Not only that, it’s a bit of a grinding hill to get to them - downhill on the way back though. We try to walk as often as we can. I try to walk to yoga and aquafit and, like you, have noticed an improvement in strength and energy.

Thanks for this post. It’ll encourage me to walk even more!

Thanks Bonnie! I love that you planned for all this around your move... and I'm glad it's downhill to home with anything you've picked up from town!

Celine this is incredible! I love walking so much, but have really found it harder to keep up the steps since moving to a regular-hours office job, especially now we're creeping in on shorter, darker days. But I'm feeling so inspired by reading this!

Yes these are both challenging factors! There's been a lot of tweaking to keep the momentum going with winter coming in particular. Had to do some thinking and tinkering to make it work around going into the office, and will say I now I find it harder to hit my target on work-from-home days, ha.

Great idea and well done committing to it. Depending on what your daily commute is like, it's pretty amazing how many steps people can rack up if they incorporate just a little more walking into the day. Not to mention daily commitments like dog walks etc.

10k always felt achievable quite easily, but 15k is a big effort. The averaging is a great method to not kill your momentum as soon as you start as well. Plenty of good advice!

I agree, 10k can be achievable with a few tweaks. 5k steps is basically another 40 minutes of walking however - ten minutes here and there and you can nail it.
